How to cure a jerky mouse?

Does anyone else suffer from a jerky mouse here?

I find it difficult to draw accurately (especially curves). While I am smoothly moving my mouse, the drawing will freeze for a fraction of a second, and then suddenly catch up to me with a long straight line. It does this repeatedly.

Any ideas what causes this, or tips to make it better? I only notice this here at XSketch.

are you using a laser mouse? I cured mine (well, we'll see) but a cloth pad vs. plastic seems to work better

The mouse itself works perfectly. It is only here at xsketch that the response is sometimes very jerky (or stuttery).

Have you tried valium?

Crojo's suggestion is not as flippant as it may seem. I have been taking valium since I started taking xsketch seriously and my mouse action is extremely chilled now.
