Mini Mod Rights

We should have mini-mod rights. This would mean that certain players, after earning so many medals or just proving they are responsible, have the ability to VOTE on banning an offensive player. Just like warning somebody with a draw, if there are so many votes this player would go away and all will be well again.

at 9:18 PM, Thursday February 17, 2011 EST if i read this right, not one person is a mini mod, it's just a right everyone has like warning a drawning but instead of just skipping their turn they are banned.
but i dont think this is a good idea because it can be abused 2 easily. |

at 1:45 AM, Friday February 18, 2011 EST Gurgi that's what I thought at first, but at least 3 or 4 people could always be required to ban, regardless of the number at the table (if there aren't enough for that then I think it would be fair to have to wait). As Caryn said, some kind of experience being required would make it safe enough. It's not going to be even close to worth it for a troll to set up 3-4 accounts (even with friends) and then get medals with all of them, just to ban someone for a few hours until a mod fixes it.
This probably won't happen anyway as, from what I've seen and heard, change and development are slow. That's of course not meant as any disrespect to Ryan or anyone else involved - I think there are good reasons. |

at 5:08 PM, Friday February 18, 2011 EST I'm gonna add my opinion a few more times too... hope it helps! It is important that some form of responsibility has already been established to access these rights. Maybe an application process that a moderator would need to approve a person to have this right, and there would still need to be so many votes...
Cheers! |

at 5:39 PM, Sunday February 20, 2011 EST Recently there have been a lot of trolls around. I do think it's important that something be done, whether it be this idea (probably the most effective but most effort) or creating more mods (presumably easy and reasonably effective).
The mods we do have are great, no question, but they can't be here all the time. Considering the increase in trolls, even if we didn't need more before I do think we need more now. XSketch depends on its community very much. Perhaps the regulars don't make up the majority of players but they keep people coming back and they teach those who are willing to learn. Without them no one would know the rules and few would come back for another experience with cheaters and spammers. Therefore I think it would be not be just safe to trust some of them, but fair too. There are several people who could make great mods. I'm sure PM can make recommendations. I know this will have come up before but perhaps it can be reconsidered? I doubt any of the players would disagree. |

at 10:31 PM, Sunday February 20, 2011 EST Yup, me again. Based on the feedback and knowing how difficult it would be to recode things for the "mini mod" idea, I vote to push that we can elect more mods based on experience, maturity, availability, etc.
We need lots of votes, and this NEEDS to get pushed to Ryan hard so something can be done. The source of these trolls is right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEzzXoRggKQ When you watch this video, it explains a lot and things are only going to get worse. Yes we have great mods but not enough to keep the game fun for all, all the time. So we need the ability to elect new mods! Everyone please pass this on and get lots of votes too. |
