.3rdbase. had some very strong words last night about my playing manner and strategy. And the reason I bring this to the forums is because many of the players here play like I do and the same has been going on for years here now.

Basically, Base implied that the game couldn't be fun for me since I have "memorized" the word list and was getting too many guesses correctly. "3 out of 5" was her claim.

I think we all understand her point of view. When you're going for a top 10 placement, like many of us have, we all understand that you have to pick your game up and get many points, or even as many as possible in given situations. And sometimes, I get the feeling I'm hogging points. She labeled me as inconsiderate to the other players who have not been exposed to the word list as much.

We were playing at the 0 table of course, since nobody was playing at the 1500 table. I would have preferred that, but nobody really brought it up or wanted to go. I told her that I understood her claims. Acid backed it up as well that players should have to earn their metals..which they should. I asked her for suggestions..probably sarcastically since I knew there probably wasn't a solution to this problem. She said she knew there were no alternatives but continued to rant on and on.

We get it...the veterans know the ins and outs of this game and it is unfair. However, that didn't really seem to affect JonSolo, NikitaLang, and DVader213...or Mjed, blulyt, lilmissmouse, and Richard from last month. They all turned up Top 25 or are looking strong for top 25. So basically, there is a solution to this problem:
If the veterans are hogging the points...stop them. Guess better. Learn the game. Play some more. Figure it out. Because nobody on this website is going to let anybody in a 3k score position run this site any differently.

Put this into perspective of a real competition...if the front runners are working hard to be the front runners, are you gonna go up to them and simply ask that they lay off?

If anybody wants to contribute to this forum, feel free. Maybe we'll get some clever responses in creative form, some post about me being mean, people who agree, people who dont, suggestions, etc.

first of all, I am not going to defend the strong words from 3rdbase at all if she used them, but I do want to say she is a sweet lady that used to play Kdice and I like her a lot.

And I can understand her frustration a bit. Sometimes I still swear out when the regulars guess "one flew over the damn cuckoo's nest", "yellow dotted white octopus or whatever" etc because they know some typical drawings that regulars use.

I HATE BEING TOO LATE TOO!

last month, I got a nice blue but I struggled with 4 things:
*my own slow guessing
*my typo's*
*english being my 3rd language so not knowing all words, let alone how to spell them
*the regulars having an edge because of their experience in drawing and guessing

...but I got there!

anyway, I am not asking to accept any strong language when someone is frustrated BUT try cutting some slack to people who try this game out at first or explain fast guessing takes some experience... we need more people here

PS: damn you fast guessers! But I do apologize to all the regulars I might have made feel bad when I asked them to stop stealing my points by guessing so fast.

Jurgen, I do cut them slack. I tried reasoning with Base. But...she would not let up

I'm always up for helping out newbies when they don't know what to draw and stuff. It's just..there's a point where they need to help themselves out as well.

strong language? From somebody named Dick Face?

I believe what I said was 'you are overguessing the table', 'you clearly know the word list and it's no fun playing against you' and 'you are inconsiderate'. I didn't tell you to leave, and I didn't pretend like I have a solution within the bounds of XSketch. I do imagine that it's not much fun just guessing the word list instead of concentrating on the drawings, and nothing you said up there makes me think otherwise.

Grow a pair, Led.

Hello there, I am Maffers. As jurgen mentioned, I only find that this is only really a problem when the answer to a draw has many words within it. It helps if you've seen the word 'Judith Kepple from Eggheads repairing a clock' before because you can guess the whole thing from just Judith Kepple's kind face. A newer player who hasn't previously seen the word, by contrast, will be guessing based purely on what's on the canvas. If, however, the word has only one solid element, such as 'fireplace' or whatever, then nobody will gain too great an advantage as new players and old players will similarly have witnessed fireplaces in their day-to-day lives. I'm witnessing one right now.

Anyone who's been here for a little while will remember that a bit back we had lots more words on the wordlist that had no usage in reality - words such as "skydiving man with no right arm", for example. Incoherent concepts such as these were the words which highly favoured the regular players who had seen them crop up before. Long but coherent phrases such as "the early bird gets the worm" can be guessed by new players since it's a phrase with which they're likely to be familiar so they can predict where a drawing of a worm at sunrise might be going.

Sorry, I just realised that I've been rambling for ages but I've actually said very little. Basically what I'm getting at is that multi-word phrases than aren't in real use should be removed. If you see something like "pirate ninja" then just put it on the list in the forum for removal. I think the doing this and also suggesting new words is perhaps the most feasible way of levelling the playing field.

Oh boy, takin cheap shots at my name now? Please don't get butthurt

Strong words often refers to a strong opinion. I don't see any need to misquote. Your nagging and immature behavior won't help you here. Remember how you drew Smokey the Bear last night and I guessed Smoky the Bear? And you remember that somebody else guessed Smokey the Bear correctly nd then you made your snide little comment about "Hah told you spelling counts." And then you logged off before allowing me to tell you two phrases exist in the word bank, both of them Smoky and Smokey. BUT hold on a second....oh man, I memorized that phrase? Oh man what a shame on me man.

Get over yourself. You think it isn't fun for me to play this game, but I do enjoy this game, regardless of how I play it.

Grow a pair? Haha oh man, you're just a child with a temper now. Like I said, if you don't like people like me on this site, you better start dealing with it. This is a simple case of you not being able to comprehend psychology on this website; recognition, precognition, long term memory.

You're not going to change anything on here, yet you still come on here and whine about "overguessing." It's funny...you acknowledge you don't have a solution, you don't wish for me to leave, but it's still your intention to be as rude and ignorant as possible to make a point which has been fully understood already.

I guarantee you won't ever say anything like this to any other over-guesser, btw. I guarantee it

I have to side with 3rd here. She's my girl and very fair and usually level headed, and it is unfair. And I know it's not your guys's fault, but in order to play with yall you have to play for a million hours in a month because you guys know the words and have inside joke drawings things like that. You are not at fault though, it is the word list. It's too small for the top players and that makes it harder for newer players or players who don't want to play as much to get enough points to medal. Sorry for the jumbled thoughts. <3k8/fishnets/xcww

ps jurgen shes more on pokr now at least i see her there more.

pps hi 3rd!!! <3 misses you honey!

I feel like this issue, as many of the "drama" i've seen on this site the past 2 months, are just really non-issues that people get overly excited about.

So what, there are people who really enjoy this game and play it a lot, because the game is fun, and the people are so funny and nice and just great to hang out with.

So we start to learn the words. I mean, if you care about the points enough to say it isn't fair-- then just keep playing and soon you will be just as knowledgable about the game as anyone else.

If you have a life and don't come on this site that often, well then, stop getting upset about not knowing all the words.

:-)

Hello there, I am Maffers. I took your request for suggestions and discussion seriously. I apologise for this mistake on my part as I see now that this is was not meant to be that sort of thread.
