This game is just boring now.

I wanted to address a small issue I have noticed in xsketch lately.
Whilst I will mention no names it is kind of obvious who I mean. I personally think it is starting to get a little boring when certain people are around. I know this subject has been brought up before but I find that a lot of people are friends on here and are quick to defend each other so people rarely speak out against such players because everyone gangs up on them. (I have seen this myself). Its a bit of a joke now though. Certain players are ruining the game for a lot of other players. In particular, new players. New players are put off because they are unable to play properly so they don't come back! How will this community grow if people aren't given a chance!! Now whilst this competitive fast plying sounds like a perfectly fine way to play, many people don't want to play against such people because they want to have -->FUN<--. Fun has been totally sucked out of this game now.... and this is just a GAME remember? Why can't I come here for an hour to pass time, have a bit of fun, maybe a chat and then go about my day instead of finding it an intense battle of who has the fastest fingers. I know sometimes that I have my moments in the game but I nowhere near make it as impossible to play against as some do. I'm not saying dumb yourselves down. Hell no. Just maybe take an hour or two away from the computer each day. You could possibly wait for a drawing to appear first before guessing because not everyone knows all the phrases on this game just yet? Just chill a little and stop making it so boring to play against you!! You can say I am wrong if you want to because this is how I feel and I can guarantee others feel the same. So feel free to tear this apart all you like, I'm very much looking forward to it. :) |

at 9:35 PM, Sunday April 1, 2012 EDT I can honestly say that this is bugging me too. I've not played properly in months because I just can't. I can't type that quickly and I certainly don't know what to guess before anything has been drawn so it's just not fun to sit there and watch my points go down and not be able to win any sketches. The fun isn't there anymore and it's a shame.

at 5:46 AM, Monday April 2, 2012 EDT well a similar problem happens on KDice, where the more casual players get demotivated because of the more regular players beating them over and over.
Part of it is because of cheating and ganging up and luckily that's not the case on XSketch but the main reason for both sites is the huge difference in experience. And trust me, I'm sure the regulars are just as bored about explaining the rules over and over to newer players. The problem probably is that trying to explain over and over to some REAL trolls (who will never learn and are often rude) has had an impact on how much patience they have with less experienced players who mean no harm but don't know the rules well. Then again, I can add that most regulars still patiently take the time to explain the rules. And that's what I hope can keep happening because like it or not, moderators can't monitor everything and this site depends on the more experienced players guiding and helping the new players. All that being said, I do understand your problem and there are ways to keep this more fun for everyone. When there are enough players around, I often see that the "noobs" sit on one table and the regulars on another. So if you feel like you are not enjoying yourself enough, feel free to suggest in a friendly manner to split the table up or just move to a second table and wait for a few new players to arrive. I know the regulars have asked oh so often to have a higher points table reinstated so part of this problem can be fixed as well: the casual players can have fun at the 0 table and the regulars can play troll free on say a 1500 point table. Only the site creator Ryan can help us out there. |

at 6:23 AM, Monday April 2, 2012 EDT Most of the time, there is only ever 1 table open so its perfectly understandable that there is a mix of experience playing.
Its not the regular players I am referring to here though because as you can see, I've been playing a while now myself and I like playing against the regulars. There are a select few though that are WAY too competitive at this game and give no room for others to play with them. I don't care about losing out on points because I don't really care about point scores, I just think it is nice (and more fun) when everyone can join in a game. Not only do you never get the chance to guess, but you barely get to draw anything either. This is my whole point..... its just a boring way to play a game I once found rather enjoyable. |

at 1:38 PM, Friday April 6, 2012 EDT Maybe there should be a certain time to draw before guessing is available. Like for example 5 seconds where the drawing can grow, and then the guessbox appears again and everyone can try to get the right answer. So we could finish more drawings before the words are guessed.
