Symbol Question

So someone drew a church with a cross. THen wrote a lowercase t and then a P.
THe word ended up being Church Pew, so the t was a cross. I think the cross on the church was acceptable, but I think the cross that looked more like a lowercase t (as in line drawing) was a symbol for a word. So besides the fact that he wrote the first letter of the second word, is drawing a cross for the word church separate from a church building, is that an illegal use of symbols? THanks |

at 3:30 PM, Friday July 13, 2012 EDT The symbol rule applies to direct symbol replacements that would be found in text, such as; $ for dollar, € for euro, @ for at, & for and etc. Drawing a cross to signify a church or religion is fine as long as the word isn't "cross"

at 9:34 PM, Friday July 13, 2012 EDT Symbols is too much a grey area to even try warn for in my opinion. They should be allowed, this word list is way too big and difficult for new players to try draw 'and' or 'dollar' without symbols.
Just google symbols, click images and tonnes of symbols used by everyone including myself are there. I'm going to use dollar as an example. If you asked 100 random people to draw 'dollar', 99% would use the dollar sign. Judging by this game, the other 1% would prob draw a penis. Maybe to us Euros and Americans that's a little too easy, but it could be the same as using the house symbol (google it) for house. If your a Pygmy and know the dollar sign, well played I think. It's no easier to draw that than, in, out, on, off or ion. My opinion is; that if there is to be a complete ban on symbols the word list should be done over. And I reckon PM (who I think is in charge of the list) nor anybody else would want to do this. Try draw male gender sign without a symbol. Basically I think letter symbols such as those in the periodic table shouldn't be allowed and others such as dollar should. Sorry for the essay. xx |

at 4:46 AM, Saturday July 14, 2012 EDT I think direct text replacements are pretty easy to follow.. never seen anyone use a house symbol instead of house so I wouldn't count that. The symbols I'm referring to are those that you generally see in text.

at 8:38 AM, Saturday July 14, 2012 EDT I wrote that message at 5 in the morning so didn't notice the direct symbol replacement, sorry, not having a go but I think even this is hard to enforce with words like quotation marks, exclamation point and question mark on the word list.

at 9:56 AM, Tuesday July 17, 2012 EDT didn't think you were having a go bro, just interested as to whether myself and Karin's blog posts are clear or not. I can edit mine if it isn't.
I have tried to remove some of the words on the list such as "comma" etc. If you feel there is other ones that should be removed to clear up this rule please post them here. I left colon and semi colon in because they can be drawn easily in a different way. |
