This is the code by which I play kdice. It's not the only legitimate code, but I believe it is moral and I strive to keep my actions consistent with it.
0) Guiding principle: kdice provides exercises in managing uncertainty. The exercise is to determine the optimal course of action, given the current game state, what you've induced of the other players, and the realities of the probability tables.
1) Fight for first as long as you can. It is good to die fighting. But do not waste people's time.
2) Do not "v-flag." Accept v-flags, but not before turn 5.
3) Do not curse or resent other players.
4) Distinguish between name and color. You may talk in a friendly way to someone while mercilessly destroying them on the board.
5) Do not play for points: they are easily purchased. Play 0- or 100-level boards; players on higher level boards have their own codes of play, which are conservative and maximized towards maintaining their points.
6) If it is obvious that you will win, it is acceptable to flag out or walk away. It is best to do so before others real-flag.
7) Walk away from a game without hesitation if real life intrudes. |
