I will yield to superior materiel and position, and I will honor flagging and truces. I'll even help you secure first place if it means I can win a few points in second.
But don't expect me to back you up for playing *stupidly* against other players -- if you lose everything down to 4th or 5th, I'm not going to suck it up on your behalf; I will scavenge your territories to shore up my own position if necessary.
And please don't tell me how to play this game. My mother can offer better advice. ... Polite respect and a good sense of humor go a long way.
I like 1st place, but I'm usually pretty happy to take 2nd, 3rd or even 4th -- points is points, after all.
