Making XSketch Better
Posted By: Ryan at 10:47 AM, Thursday June 26, 2008 EDT
I think XSketch is a fun game as it is but I think it could benefit from input from it's players. So I'd like to start a discussion on what could be done to XSketch to take it to the next level for online pictionary.

If you could change how the games works, what would you do?

Players with more points should have to ante up more.

Its not much fun when the 20k+ people come overrun the newbie room.

Clearer rules about what is and is not allowable in sketches. Can you use the sketchboard to simulate the clue-giving before the clue options come up? Is one letter a foul, esp if it's in the word? Are all typewriter symbols banned, or just letters? Numbers? Etc. It's not at all clear now, and people have very different threshholds for warning.

Hi Ryan... at the last time so much people created rooms which are empty. Its difficult searching friends when they moved. Why will not give "possibility creating room" to somebody who reached some points as little trophy? Thanks for answer... wish all best x Mimi

I think that you should have a 100 point table so we don't have to take time getting up to 200 points

emm .. maybe you could bring colour or some shapes into the game

.. even if you could change the thickness of the pencil or something

The Game is Still Very Good !

I agree with "approve only" room. Sometimes its fun to just sketch with group of friends. Not for points but just for time spending =)

I think it would be a good for new players if in the help section there were some diagrams illustrating some of the drawing techniques which are commonly used in Xsketch. Just simple things like using the sounds like symbol to draw a word like 'serf' or using comparison when drawing words like tall, dry, etc.

Also there are standard ways of drawing certain words like on, off, in, out and ion so a diagram of these may also be helpful. Although i think most players will notice this and pick it up after they have played a few games :)

It might also be useful if an example of how some of the more difficult words can be tackled by using the above methods or by breaking it down into smaller words.
And I think free cake at each of the tables would be wonderful ;)

maybe bleeping out inappropriate words, so that even if you type them, they won't show up. that would cut down on a lot of abuse, i think.
